Silicon Valley HBO's beloved satire of the tech industry is coming to an end. HBO has released the first trailer for the sixth and final season of the series, which aims to maintain the sharp humor and ridiculousness the series is known for – and unveils the new season on Sunday, October 27th.
The show follows the staff of Pied Piper, a fictional startup that creates a decentralized "new Internet". The trailer, however, spends most of its time making fun of a recent Silicon Valley trend: tech executives performing in front of congressional committees. Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch), CEO of Pied Piper, nervously approaches a question from the committee as the Pied Piper team at the head office watches in dismay and later celebrates his awkward but inspiring reaction. Silicon Valley produced by Beavis and Butt-Head and King of the Hill Co-founder Mike Judge was hailed for his satirical trends in the technology world. But The Verge criticized the show for not picking up on some of the more politically-themed technology-related topics and said fifth season was "more like yesterday's tech news than 2018."
