(FOX 11 / CNS) – Recipients of CalFresh and CalWorks who access these benefits with debit cards are urged to prepare for a 24-hour service interruption that will prevent them from doing so on Saturday night use .
The cards, known as Electronic Benefits Transfer – or EBT – no longer work from 23 o'clock. Tonight and remains useless until 11pm. Sunday due to a planned nationwide service outage.
State and district officials urge recipients to make their purchases and make necessary cash withdrawals prior to default.
EBT cards, which replaced food stamps as part of state-subsidized social assistance programs as of June 2004, can be used for purchases in participating stores and also allow cash withdrawals.
Locally, the program is managed by the Department of Social Services of Los Angeles County.
The services will fail as the state of California moves from its current EBT provider to a new one.

All services are to be restored shortly after 23.00. Sunday.
