Smartphones are nothing without apps, and there are many of them in the Play Store. Of course, the quality is there … let’s say “varies” thanks to Google’s rather lax administration and curation efforts. But there are many apps that we rely on every day, others that we might use a few times a month, and even more that we uninstalled so that we never use them again. With Google’s handy account dashboard tool: how many apps have you installed with Android throughout your life?
My job is probably increasing my numbers.
Apps used to be a gold rush – wild west risks and everything. I remember a time when I was constantly looking for new ones to close gaps in functionality. But since these niches are filled, I install fewer apps (which I keep) every year – although I’m still testing a lot of new ones for work. Based on our readers’ responses to our recent paid app survey, many of you are also slowing down when it comes to paying for new apps.
We have to compare the results of the 2017 version of this survey, although based on our answers, I added a little more granularity in the lower section last time. But let’s take a look: what is the number of installs of your Play Store app that are listed in your Google Dashboard? And even if you may have a separate work profile, we’ll stick to your personal account.
