What names are considered for baby Sussex?

The arrival of Baby Sussex is arguably one of the most anticipated events of 2019. The fans are counting on birth weight, whether the baby will be a boy or a girl, and of course the baby's name.

It has already been speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will give the baby a traditional royal name and honor, if anything, the pair of Harry's deceased mother, Princess Diana. After the fans have made suggestions and everyone's wondering which name Harry and Meghan are most likely to choose, let's look at what names are in the running for Baby Sussex.

A traditional name for the royal baby?

It may well be that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning a traditional royal name for their newcomer! In this case we can expect the baby to be named after a past or current king or queen and have a nickname like Victoria or possibly Elizabeth for a girl and Henry, Charles or maybe Albert for a child Boy. After all, Prince William and Kate Middleton gave their three children traditional royal names, and the royal fans love each one of them.

A tribute to Diana

It would be just wonderful if Meghan and Harry welcomed him a new girl and decided to call her Diana! Harry actually mentioned this as a possibility in the past, long before Meghan and Baby had expected Sussex. It's definitely a top name on the list, and the world would love to have a new little girl named Diana as the youngest member of the royal family. It was even speculated that the couple could choose the name Spencer, Diana's last name, in case the baby was a boy.

If they go their own way

Meghan and Harry could definitely decide surprise everyone and choose a completely unexpected name. A very young royal fan recently suggested naming the baby Amy, and Meghan seemed to like that choice. It would not be surprising if they decided to name a new daughter after Meghan's mother Doria. Or Meghan might choose to honor a close friend by naming the child Jessica or Marcus, the name of the friend who attended the 2017 Invictus Games.

Will they honor the Queen or Prince Philip?

We must remember that while choosing a first name is a pretty important decision, it is also the second name to keep in mind. Not only that, but fans should keep in mind that royal babies usually have two to three middle names. So Meghan and Harry's work is far from over once the first name has been chosen. Regardless of the name the duke and duchess ultimately choose, they can choose to honor Harry's grandparents by giving the baby the middle name of Elizabeth or Philip.

Perhaps they call the baby Prince Charles

What an incredible honor it would be for the future king to name not one, but two of his grandchildren after him. Princess Charlotte was named after her paternal grandfather, and it could happen again. A new baby could be called Charlene, and of course a new baby would be called Charles. There are so many possible names that Meghan and Harry could consider during this exciting time in their lives, and we can not imagine what they have been discussing behind closed doors. Whatever name the royal couple chooses for Baby Sussex, we're sure it's just the right choice and fits perfectly.
