What we do in the shadows came to light this Wednesday (as it were!) As FX's series adaptation of the 2014 indie comedy debuted. Did you think it was damn funny?
Based on the mockumentary-like film with Jemaine Clement ( Fleeing Conchords ) and Taika Waititi ( Thor: Ragnarok Director), who act as EPs here, Shadows follows a trio of vampires who for centuries inhabited Staten Island, if not mastered it. Nandor's "The Relentless" (played by Kayvan Novak) had been a "wild soldier" in the Ottoman Empire, while Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) had long since turned around and then married Laszlo (Matt Berry), who then considered himself "the most beautiful" Man "in his village … full of lepers. In a tiny subplot Nadja prefaces Jeff (" Jeff ?"), Whom she considers to be the reincarnation of Gregor, a lover whom she beheaded in the sufferings of passion (and then kept going until she did needed fulfilled).
The house has a fourth roommate, Colin (Mark Proksch), who tends to scorch all humans as a beige-loving "energy vampire" who ravages you either to death or . Expect much more from him in the coming episodes.
Among the living (in the basement) is Guillermo (Harvey Guillén), Nandor's avid beaver-man who "trusts" and adopts the interview with a vampire's Armand (1
Pilot and season set in motion, Nandor reads in a letter she received from Baron Afanas ( Star Trek: Discovery ) have received Doug Jones (of course), a great immortal who is expecting a visit soon. This has made Laszlo and Nadja a bit nervous, as they both had secret "intense affairs" with the baron concerning "acrobatic stuff". Nandor prepares for the baron by shopping for glitter (a Twilight vampire) ] and "spooky" (crepe!) Paper, while Guillermo does his best to close the attic crowded with Stairmaster decorate and lure a few native LARPers to a virgin feast.
Ironically, as soon as the Baron comes out of his coffin, he feeds on Nadja and Laszlo, a very well known man, much to the chagrin of Guillermo. After familiarizing himself with the documentary crew, Afanas affirms his plan for Nandor & Co. to use their vampire power and conquer the world. (Unfortunately, for the hungry baron, Colin went to LARPers firstzzzzzz.)
When the episode ends, Guillermo braces himself for the "something special" he'd expected from Nandor, baring his neck. He gets … a glittering portrait of the two to commemorate Guillermo's "two years" of bondage. Well, that bites!
