The White House Budget Office is examining the $ 43,000 spent by the EPO on a secure telephone booth for Administrator Scott Pruitt's office.
"I'm no happier than you," says Mick Mulvaney, director of the White House Household Budget and Budget Department, House House MPs said during a hearing on Wednesday.
When the Office of Management and Budget violates the Antideficiency Act, Mulvaney said, "We would talk to the lawyers to find out what the right steps are."

Mulvaney said he did not think anyone would ever have criminal penalties for violating the plot. This includes Ben Carson, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, who commissioned $ 31,000 for a custom hardwood dining room. Since Carson canceled these issues, Mulvaney said the tax office had not opened an investigation.

Representatives of the budget office did not immediately respond to an email request for further details.
The OMB rehearsal marks another complication for the EPA and Pruitt, who is already being intensively investigated for his unorthodox $ 50 a night rent of a Capitol Hill bedroom by a lobbyist, frequent trips to his home state of Oklahoma and what a former adviser Retaliatory practice against employees who challenge the administrator.
The EPA says the purchase of the phone booth does not violate a ban on spending more than $ 5,000 reshuffling an agency manager's office because it was needed for the official business. Funding for the project came from an environmental program and a management account – some $ 6 million spent annually on the operation and maintenance of the EPO headquarters.
