Whole Foods Now Offers Delivery via Amazon Prime Now – News – The Columbus Dispatch

Amazon's Prime Now service will now deliver thousands of Whole Foods products to Columbus – far beyond the small selection of previously available products – including fresh produce, meats, and staples.

Amazon has finally answered the question of central Ohio I asked the last year: When will Whole Foods offer the delivery?

The answer is today.

Amazon Prime Now will now deliver thousands of Whole Foods products – going far beyond the small selection of previously available products – including fresh produce, meats and staple foods every day. Orders can be delivered in less than an hour, just like the Prime Now service for popular items like TVs, ice cream and toys.

Ever since Amazon bought Whole Foods just over a year ago, most grocery stores in central Ohio have been racing to support online ordering platforms, courier pick-up and delivery. Kröger, Giant Eagle, Meijer, Walmart, Costco and others have partnered with third-party vendors such as Shipt and Instacart to satisfy a growing number of consumers looking for the convenience of stepping into a business.

"We were at a turning point," said Darren Seifer, food and beverage industry analyst for the NPD Group, to The Dispatch in June. "Amazon has really spurred other players to bring their game up to date, and in the food industry it has created a ripple effect to make e-commerce easier and more available."

Kroger and Giant Eagle have also started to shop option in some stores that will stop and pay customers quickly, avoiding the need to unload groceries at the coffers.

More than 90 percent of consumers are still shopping in a physical grocery store, but how rising generations expect more from retailers "Businesses are expected to solve their problems of bringing dinner into their home," Seifer said.

Krogner, the country's largest food chain and the largest food retailer in central Ohio, was active in response to Amazon's entry into its territory. In recent years, Kroger has been buying a data analytics company, investing in a startup company in the UK supply chain, and has just signed an agreement with Alibaba, China's version of Amazon, to sell products on its sites.

Whole Foods has three central stores in Ohio, in the areas of Dublin, Upper Arlington and Easton.

Amazon brought Prime Now to Columbus a few years ago and occupied a small warehouse in the city. The service, which focuses on a small selection of popular items, is separate from the gigantic distribution centers the company operates.

Amazon brings the Whole Foods delivery service to other markets on Wednesday. Dayton, Washington, DC, Portland, Oregon, and other parts of New York City can also order via Prime Now.

Amazon offers 2-hour delivery of Whole Foods free, but like other delivery services, Prime Now requires a membership. Amazon Prime is $ 1

3 a month or $ 120 a year. The service includes access to the company's video streaming service, unlimited reading on its Kindle devices, free shipping on most Amazon.com orders, and other benefits.

Delivery is from 8:00 to 22:00. To find out if customers have access to the service, they should tell their Amazon smart speaker "Alexa, Shop Whole Foods". Alexa can save the entire order and send it to Amazon for processing.
