Why Daniel Craig felt that James Bond was fucked by Austin Powers Films

The Austin Powers films are the most popular parodies of the James Bond films. The comic franchise features a title character that was warmly received by 007 fans. Interestingly, this had a huge impact on the bond franchise.

Daniel Craig, the actor currently playing the 007, has commented on his feelings in the Powers films. He likes her lead actor Mike Myers. However, he believes that the films have had a negative impact on Bond’s development.

How 007 led to Austin Powers

When the Bond series started, it had a certain degree of grain. Of course, every franchise has to evolve with a certain longevity. From the early 1970s to the mid-1980s, the series became a lot of campers. Goofy humor and quirky action points became much larger parts of the franchise than when it started. This ridiculous material made it much easier to parody 007 than before.

Then, in the 1990s, the world was introduced to the powers that be. While Powers faked things that seemed ridiculous to Bond, his arch-enemy taunted Dr. Evil several Bond villains like Dr. No, Ernst Stavro Blofeld and Dr. Kananga. The films faked several 007 tropes, including the Bond villains ‘tendency to speak rather than act, the villains’ fancy hideouts, and Bond’s love of puns. Some fans have never seen the earlier Bond films like this after watching the Powers films.

How Austin Powers changed James Bond

When Craig took on the role, fans noticed that the series was getting darker and more grounded. Bond villains no longer tried to create new civilizations in space. Bond girls no longer had ridiculous names like Pussy Galore, Octopussy and Honey Ryder.

Some fans felt that the new tone of the series was the 007 franchise’s attempt to mimic other popular action films. Other fans wondered if the satire of the Powers film caused the bond franchise to weaken. Craig revealed that the latter is exactly what happened.

According to The AV Club, Craig said: “We had to destroy the myth because[the[the[der[the Austin Powers Movies]fucked us. I’m a big fan of Mike Myers, so don’t get me wrong, but he kind of fucked us and made it impossible to do the gags. “

In particular, Craig felt that by the time he took on the role, there were no more 007 jokes to be made. He said to Esquire: “Until we did it Casino Royale, [Myers] had blown every joke apart. We were in a situation where you couldn’t send anything. It had gone so far postmodern that it was no longer funny. “It’s incredible to think that a number of parodies have had such a significant impact on the Bond franchise!

Many appreciated the rougher tone of Craig’s first three Bond films. However, some fans missed the humor of Roger Moore’s 007 films. Craig’s fourth Bond film, spook, was noted for more humor than the previous three installments, indicating that Bond may be coming out of Powers’ shadow.
