Why does The Office leave Netflix?

Everyone loves the crew at Dunder Mifflin. Although The Office came to a touching conclusion more than six years ago, thanks to Netflix, which currently offers everything, fans could watch the popular sitcom over and over again (and introduce new viewers). Nine teams are available for international streams , But that will not be so long.

Here's why The Office leaves

Today, streaming is the place to talk. It is becoming increasingly difficult to fill cinemas (with the exception of franchise films on a large budget), and most TV consumers are willing to sacrifice watching a program when it airs to see it again the next day or later to see. In order not to be left behind, the nets climb into the streaming train.

Among them is NBCUniversal, which owns the rights to The Office . On June 25, 2019, the company issued a statement that they would not renew their contract with Netflix and instead bring the "rare gem" on their platform from 2021. According to Hollywood Reporter, this will not affect international viewers for the Internet for the time being.

This (almost) happened before

Do you remember 2018 when everyone talked about how Friends left another extremely popular NBC comedy, Netflix? The internet was in a panic. Shortly thereafter, Netflix and Warner Bros. agreed – the streaming service paid $ 100 million to keep Friends for only a year.

These types of things are becoming more common when new streaming services are created. Netflix has already suffered a huge loss when it comes to Marvel items, the Star Wars franchise, and everything else owned by Disney, as the giant has withdrawn various titles for the upcoming launch of Disney +, while he other distributed Hulu (where it holds the majority).

These other shows could be the next

The good news is that you still have time to see all nine seasons again The Office (about 4,422 minutes of fun) 178 times if you start soon (and take very few breaks). The bad news? This is probably not the only show NBCU and other upcoming streaming services will be taking back from Netflix in the coming years.

What other shows are at risk? In the case of NBCU, there is a documentary sitcom Parks and Recreation and subsequent comedies by Mike Schur The Good Place (which will end after the forthcoming fourth season) and Brooklyn Nine -Nine . Good Girls a one-hour dramedy that runs well on Netflix could also be part of the deal. And we definitely did not see that the last streaming service was announced.

At this point, any show that is not a Netflix original can make the transition to a new "home." It is also possible to share certain titles. However, these decisions are made on a case by case basis. At the moment you really want to pay only for Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, as long as you can – because in the future you have to spend money on many more services or miss new and old series and movies.
