Why is breastfeeding important for your little bundle of joy?

If you think about it, we all know that breast milk is one of the few vaccines for infants. It is of immense value to feed the mother's milk to the newborn within an hour after birth. WHO and UNICEF recommend that breastfeeding should begin within one hour of the child's birth, should it be administered during the first six months of child life, and ideally should be continued until the age of two to promote healthy growth to ensure child development apart from reducing child mortality. At present, however, there is an ongoing discussion about it.

According to a resident of Mumbai, who filed a petition at change.org, her child was fed milk when the baby was in intensive care. "All I wanted during my pregnancy was a healthy baby that I could hold and feed in my arms, but my wish was not respected by the hospital where I gave birth to my child Government gives all the mother's prior consent before feeding a newborn milk powder "she writes in her petition.

All said and done, breast milk is important for your child. We give you three reasons why we say so:

  1. Helps against malnutrition : Malnutrition kills every third child in India. 66% of these deaths occur in the first year of life and are often caused by inappropriate feeding practices. According to the WHO, breastfeeding is absolutely crucial for the first six months and should last up to two years with normal food. Breastmilk contains all the necessary nutrients that are vital to the baby. Several studies have shown that a baby consuming this milk is often healthy and can fight malnutrition.
  2. Better Responding to Vaccines: Studies have shown that breastfed babies show a better antibody response to vaccines than infants fed with infant formula
  3. Scaling Diseases: Breastfeeding lowers the risk of the baby, or asthma To have allergies. In addition, infants who are breastfed for the first 6 months without any formula will have fewer ear infections, respiratory diseases and diarrhea.
