Why the Denver Broncos designed Dalton Risner

The weights go up and the weights go down. Dalton Risner launches another working day as he dreams of being designed by his home team. The dream seemed impossible. Most people rejected the idea that Denver would skim off the product from Kansas State in the fourth round. After testing so well and winning the Associated Press's second team All-American for his above-average performance in 12 games for the Wildcats, Risner was selected as the second selection by LFL Zierlein of NFL.com.

] And yet he was there, and there were the Broncos. With the 41 st overall result, John Elway was happy to be able to add the versatile tackle to fill the gap left by Billy Turner after Turner had signed with the Green Bay Packers for four years, and 28 million Dollar. Risner, a team captain, one of three offensive linemen of the year, and a selection of all first-team meetings, checked all the boxes Elway and the Broncos' parade room were looking for.

Risner, a social media monster and a communication major at KSU, founded the Rise Up Foundation and has influenced both the field and the community. The Broncos have recently turned the corner in the way they make their decisions and make their design decisions, and Broncos Country should not be shocked if Risner becomes instant starter, leader and eventual team captain.

Risner's awards are almost too long a list, and he has the tools to be an offensive lineman in the NFL. The Broncos' thirst for consistency along the offensive line continues, and Risner's instincts, mechanics, and core strength could help erase him. One of the biggest tests for risers will be the NFL edge speed, there is nothing like it and no preparation for it. Denver could pull him inside when similar bouts are felt as with those who have suffered Ty Sambrailo and Michael Schofield.

When Center Garrett Bradbury flew from the board to the Minnesota Vikings, Broncos Country was scared to have missed one of the top athletes in the draft on offense, but the flexible risers fell into the round with the # 41 overall. The KSU product from Wiggins, CO should help Joe Flacco immediately, and possibly Missouri's Drew Lock as well. Lock was selected by the Broncos with the next selection on selection 42.
