WNBA star Sue Bird joins Nuggets as a front office staff member for basketball operations

The Denver Nuggets make a high-profile shot for their front office.

On Friday, the Nuggets announced that eleven-time WNBA All-Star Sue Bird will join their front office team. According to a press release from the team, Bird becomes a basketball operation associate.

"We are very pleased that Sue is joining our organization," said Tim Connelly, president of Nuggets' basketball division. "Her resume undoubtedly speaks for itself, and as an active player she will provide an extremely unique perspective."

Bird played the Seattle Storm for all 1

6 seasons and had an average of two digits in each of these campaigns. The Veteran Point Guard is happy to win their third WNBA title, but it was their first since the 2010 season.

Despite this position with the Nuggets, Bird has still not indicated that they would like to retire soon. After Storm's WNBA championship in 2018, Bird said, "I do not even think about retiring." Bird also hinted at the fact that she is still under contract with the team.

Bird was originally the # 1 Storm in the WNBA Draft in 2002 after an outstanding college career in Connecticut.

"I'm really excited to join the Denver Nuggets organization," said Bird. "I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to learning from some of the best."

Bird, 38, was named 2006 WNBA All-Decade Team. She also qualified five times for the All-WNBA First Team, while her 6,154 points reached the third place in WNBA history. Bird is also the all-time assists leader in league history with 2,831 and 5.6 assists per contest over the course of their WNBA career.
