A woman was caught in a surveillance video allegedly dumping seven newborn puppies into a dumpster in Coachella Valley, California, authorities said. The authorities are trying to identify the woman who appears in the footage of a car body, reports the KESQ subsidiary of CBS Palm Springs.
The footage shows the woman getting out of her car and walking towards the dumpster. She seems to be looking for a job to leave her. Without a long break, she throws off the plastic bag with the three-day terrier mixes and sets off, Riverside County Animal Services said.
Shortly after leaving, a man rummaged through the dumpster and saw the plastic bag filled with puppies. The local police responded at 2pm. and brought the puppies to the animal services.
"The Good Samaritan has been instrumental in saving the lives of these puppies," said Chris Mayer, commander of Riverside County Animal Services. "His actions were humane and heroic."
If they had not been found so quickly, the puppies would not have survived much in the 90-degree heat, Riverside County Animal Services said. There is no excuse for dropping puppies, "Mayer said," especially in this day and age where we or other animal shelters would be willing to get these animals to look after parents or rescue partners. This was a shameful act. "Care of a Southern California Rescue Organization.
