MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Marcus Simms was not selected in the NFL Supplement draft on Wednesday, but the former recipient in West Virginia will still have the chance to survive in the league.
Simms and the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed on an unpublished contract with a free agent from Tom Pelissaro of NFL Network. Simms will have to pass a physical exam on Thursday for the deal to become official.
Simms joined the draft amendment after it became clear that he would not be academically eligible for the Mountaineers next season. He had 87 receptions for 1,457 yards and eight touchdowns in his three-year college career.
The only player to be included in the draft was Jalen Thompson's Cornerback of the State of Washington. The Cardinals of Arizona put up a fifth round against Thompson. This selection is docked by the Cardinals in the 2020 draft.
