WWE NXT Results (7/18): Number One Contender Match for Women NXT Title, Dakota Kai Vs. Lacey Evans

Tonight, Candice LeRae vs. Nikki Cross vs. Kairi Sane in a battle for the # 1, Dakota Kai vs. Lacey Evans and Kassius Ohno returns to action. As mentioned in the video above, Bianca Belair was scheduled to be contender for contender number one, but was not medically cleared for it.

Dakota Kai v Lacey Evans

Evans mocks her kicks, pie-faces her, Kai immediately takes her with him, one-legged dropkick. Kai dodged Evans twice, roll-up, two-count. Step on her back and chest, cover, two. Evans is stuck in the corner, Kai tries her kick Kick, no one home. Evans puts her in a tree of suffering and ties Kai's shoelaces to the turnbuckle. Swinging bronze obverse on wharf. "Get up!" Evans with a little more mockery, sends Kai to the mat, falls on her, cover, one – Number. Evans with one knee to the back. Evans drops Kai, bumps into the middle, elbows fall behind. Evans reaches out to Kai as the crowd tries to cheer her on, but Kai does not give up. Evans with one knee sweeps his feet away under Kai. Evans tries a second rope Moonsault, Kai rolls out of the way. Kai with quick fire kicks on the head, Evans ends in the corner, Kai with two running kicks in the face. More kicks in the face, once again to a grounded Evans, cover, two-count. Winner: Lacey Evans on Pinfall

– After the match, Evans screams at Kai "You were not ready for me!"

– Backstage Cathy Kelley talks to Ricochet about the undeniable era and the story he has with the group. Ricochet talks about Adam Cole, who is defending his NXT North American Championship. Ricochet continues that Cole hid behind this title (and his stable members) and he will not stop until he becomes the next champion.

– Next week: NXT champ Aleister Black defends against Tommaso Ciampa

– Street Profits At the basketball court they say they have a cold break, but they have to keep going to get the winning side of things. The two talk about The Mighty and get a win.

– Behind the Scenes EC3 is interviewed about his argument with Velveteen Dream. A fan asks for a selfie and EC3 shows his last shirt. EC3 meets Kona Reeves who says his suit and his "sick watch" are nice but not so nice. EC3 does not value Reeves banter and says that Reeves simply fights him (over and over). EC3 says Reeves would get the highest one-percent blows of his life. Reeves says he will fight, but it is a pity because they could be best friends.

– Look back on the rivalry between Tommaso Ciampa and Aleister Black. We see last week when Ciampa sneaks Black attacked and gave him a DDT on the concrete floor. Black says Ciampa thinks he knows about hell, but he has no idea. The two will meet next week for the title.

– Backstage, The Undisputed Era is pleased with all of their championships and accolades they have won. Cole says, "Hey, do you want to hear a joke? … Ricochet." The group laughs, Cole gets serious and says he's a battler and warns Ricochet if he wants a match with the champion.

– Vignette for The War Raiders, Hanson and Rowe talk about their past and how, when they met for the first time, it was actually in the ring against each other. They annihilated each other and decided that maybe it would be a better idea to work together and bring this destruction to other wrestlers. We see a series of clips from their indie days traveling around the world to win multiple championships. We see photos of them in Japan, Europe and Mexico when they became modern Vikings. Rowe says there's no one in the world who can stop her, but Rowe got caught up in a motorcycle wreck in 2014 that was supposed to end his life. He has not been scared since then, because even that could not get him out. Hanson says they look in one direction, but they fight like another. Rowe is the smaller of the two, but struggles like a big guy, while Hanson is the one who can fly.

– Behind the scenes, Velveteen Dream speaks as he talks about people still raving about what the next "experience" will be. He runs through his TakeOver performances including TakeOver: Chicago, which he calls another match for the dream. He says in Brooklyn, the spotlight will shine the brightest for the dream.

Nikki Cross vs. Kairi Sane vs. Candice LeRae (Number One Contender Match For The NXT Women's Championship)

[19659015] Crowd with a "Nikki Cross!" Singing before things start. NXT World Champion Shayna Baszler takes the lead before the match. Nikki smiles and waves to her as Baszler comes over to the comment. All three women go to each other to get things started. Then Sane meets LeRae from the apron on the floor. Sane with a bunch of chops to cross. Baszler says to comment, they are all just bodies and the end results will be the same. LeRae back in the ring and does a suicide dive on Cross. LeRae tries another one, but Cross cuts her off and ties her in her apron, she swings herself on LeRae and then hugs her.

LeRae is shackled into a tree of sorrow, cross with a series of kicks. Sane with a spear on the cross, LeRae hits with a double stomp, cover, two-count. Sane could hold the anchor on LeRae, but Cross cut it off before LeRae could knock. Cross jumps on Sanes back, LeRae with a dropkick. She swings savagely at Cross in the corner, runs elbow, cannonball from the apron on Sane and throws her back into the ring. Cross chases LeRae down, brings her to the ramp and hits a reversed DDT to trigger LeRae.

Sane hits Cross from Apron with a flying elbow. Crowd with a "That's awesome!" Singing. Back in the ring, all three come to the mat, all swing wildly together. LeRae with a step-up enziguri, spinning fist from Sane to LeRae. LeRae with a DDT / Flatliner combo on both opponents, Springboard Moonsault on the back of Sane, Cover and Cross Beak on top. Cross hits an oscillating neckbreaker on LeRae! Belly-to-back suplex on Sane, Cross meets again, a third time! Cross puts her on the upper turnbuckle, LeRae claws on Cross's feet, but gets pounded, LeRae with a small package, two.

LeRae with a Vertebreaker, hits a Springboard Moonsault on Cross, runs for cover, but Sane meets her insane elbow to clear up LeRae. Sane covers Cross, 1-2-3! Sane meets Baszler NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn
