Currently, Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners can benefit greatly from Xbox Live Gold membership. Instead of the usual $ 60 annual fee, you can get a 12-month Xbox Live Gold $ 40 subscription from the Microsoft Store. That's a 33% savings for Xbox owners. The offer ends on the 1st of August.
The deal is good for new members and current members alike. If you're already in the middle of an Xbox Live Gold subscription, 12 months will be added to the purchase.
Xbox Live Gold is Microsoft's paid-for online service for Xbox One and Xbox 360. Also, you can play your games online, it also gives you free games each month through the Games with Gold program. These include two Xbox One and two Xbox 360 games each month, and the 360 games are always backwards compatible and playable on Xbox One.
The games with Gold for July include Assault Android Cactus and Death Squared for Xbox One and Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction for Xbox 360 (although the availability window for Virtua Fighter 5 is finished). The quality of the games varies from month to month, but there is usually something worth playing.
In addition, Gold members receive exclusive discounts on the Microsoft Store every week, often on popular games. Microsoft's annual Ultimate Game Sale will take place from July 19th to 30th. All in all, Xbox Live Gold is a very good deal, even if you only play a fraction of the free games in a given year.
You will not soon find a better deal than this one; $ 40 is about as low as this annual subscription ever goes. If you would like to start (or maintain) an Xbox Live Gold membership, please use the offer here before August 1st.
