Maybe that's not common knowledge, but Xiaomi was the first company that really proved that a smartphone without a frame is possible. Since the Xiaomi Mi Mix debuted in late 2016, the lunette-less trend has taken the smartphone market by storm, producing 18: 9 (or more) aspect ratios, notches of all shapes and sizes, and even enhancing cameras. Ironically, it seems that the Mi Mix is now the one who is catching up with others, and that the Mi Mix 3, like the OPPO Find X, has a sliding camera.
The hint comes from the Chinese microblogging service Weibo, so take it with a grain of salt. It comes from the account of Xiaomi President Lin Bin, so there is definitely more. For the past two years, Xiaomi has stubbornly refused to give in to trends, preferring to have a very thin chin for the front camera instead of using a notch. However, this design may prove too inefficient and too old.
The above photo shows a Xiaomi phone that can easily be confused with the OPPO Find X. The only way to tell that is that it is not t, because the screen does not bend on the sides. That and that are more things that hide in this sliding part.
It seems that there are two cameras, or at least two very visible sensors. There is another opposite to the two, that could be the infrared camera. The speaker grill that passes through a hole in the front when the slider is hidden is also there. It's a modification of the Find X.
Will that be enough to put the Mi Mix 3 in the limelight? It will have to be better. Both the OPPO Find X and the Vivo NEX S have previously used tricks to circumvent the need for a notch, but have also cut corners, especially in camera quality. Maybe Xiaomi can do what the other two can not and provide a more complete option. Xiaomi will release Mi Mix 3 sometime in October
