Xiaomi has developed a fast charger that can charge a smartphone with 100 W of power. In a video posted on Weibo spotted by XDA-Developers a 4,000 mAh phone will show 100% blank in 17 minutes. The fastest charger we've tested so far, Oppo's 50 W Super VOOC device, shows that the 3,700 mAh battery is charged to 65 percent in the same time.
Xiaomi offered no further details on how the new fast charging technology works. Although the Type-C port already supports 100 watts of power, the biggest challenge in delivering so much power is to put it in a small battery without overloading it.
