The Yankees were down from the start, but struggled to win 6-5 to defeat the Angels and maintain their winning streak. >> Box score
Six take away from the game on Wednesday …
1) DJ LeMahieu came to the plate in this game with 2-for-his-last-31. Do the 2-for-32 after a strike on his first night at night. All this went away, however, as he brought the Yanks with an RBI double in the sixth position. At the next inning, he hit a unique game with a clutch bag. His biggest hit, however, came in ninth position when he completed a fastball against the right field and fought Tyler Wade to give the Yankees the lead and eventually win.
2) CC Sabathia had a chance to reach the 3,000cc club this evening, but he lost three. The big left-hander had problems with the long ball tonight, which made up all four of his earned runs. Overall, he allowed five to six hits with these three K's and not five innings.
3) Jonathan Loaisiga was a silent catalyst in this game. When he came out of the bullpen, he gave the Yankees three scoreless innings to make their comeback possible. Although he has competed for the Yankees in the past, he certainly has a place in the bullpen if he continues to undertake such quality rides.
4) Gary Sanchez had no fun the first night. He got the "Golden Sombrero" on the plate with four cutouts in all four of his bats. Add some sturdy balls that caught him in his catcher's gear, and Sanchez did not have a warm welcome. He will turn around tomorrow.
5) Tyler Wade felt terrible when a hidden ball trick from Andrelton Simmons hit the Yankees' rally shortly after the game's seventh. But he did make up for that with a two-out ninth-place win and a stolen base that allowed LeMahieu's hits to get him home for the winning run. Wade went 2 to 3 in the night.
6) Despite injuries to key gears, these Yankees have now won six games in a row.
